‘We reject Chinese claims on Arunachal’: US solidifies ‘friendship’ with India
America has yet again shown support for India, giving a shock to China in the issue regarding Arunachal Pradesh. The Donald Trump Administration has made it clear that it stands with New Delhi and supports its claims.
The US has cleared its stance amid China’s recent rhetoric about Arunachal Pradesh. The US Department of State has issued a statement saying, “For nearly six decades the US has recognized Arunachal Pradesh is Indian territory. We strongly oppose any unilateral attempts to advance territorial claims by incursions, by military or civilian incursions across the established line of actual control.”
The US Home Department further said that as far as the disputed areas are concerned, we can only say that we encourage India and China to resolve them through a bilateral route and appeal not to use the military. This statement of America is like a setback to Chinese efforts regarding Arunachal Pradesh.
According to a report, China has always eyed Arunachal Pradesh. Last month, when China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijin was asked about the 5 young men missing from Arunachal, instead of giving a direct answer, he had made Arunachal Pradesh a part of China.
He had said that China never recognized Arunachal Pradesh, it is the southern Tibet region of China. Significantly, the Chinese Army later confirmed that 5 missing youths from Arunachal Pradesh were found in its border.
