Sonu Sood sends smartphones to students in remote Haryana village for online education

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood along with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) chairman Karan Gilhotra distributed smartphones to students of Government Senior Secondary School. Smartphones were distributed to students on August 25 at Koti block in Morni village of Haryana’s Panchkula. The facility was provided to students who did not have access to smartphones or laptops to attend online classes.

Sonu Sood came across a story about the kids traveling miles just to access online education, after which he took the initiative to provide them with a smartphone so they can study from their homes. To avoid risking their health during COVID-19, Sonu Sood provided them with a smartphone.

“No more travelling for these kids. They will have their smartphones by tomorrow,” shared Sonu on Monday, August 24, 2020. More so, Sonu surprised the students with a video call. “Students of Govt school Morni were in for a surprise when they got a call from Actor Sonu Sood, his friend Karan Gilhotra this mrng who announced that thy need not travel miles for phones as they handedover new smart phones to their Principal,” shared a Twitter user.

Sonu replied to the same writing, “A wonderful beginning to my day watching all the students get their smartphones to attend their online classes. @Karan_Gilhotra (Padhega India Tabhi Toh Badhega India) n thanks to @HinaRohtaki for bringing this need for the students to our notice.”

Both Sonu Sood and PHDCCI chairman Karan Gilhotra addressed the students in a virtual event after delivering smartphones. Sood and Gilhotra have initiated a drive to facilitate the online education of underprivileged students. While speaking to media, the Principal of Govt Sr. Sec School, Pawan Jain, said, “There are about 190 students in the school who do not have a smartphone. Some students have to travel miles to reach out to other students who have smartphones. In the first batch, 40 students will get smartphones.”
