Social activist Swami Agnivesh dies at 80
Social activist Swami Agnivesh died at 80 at Delhi’s Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences on Friday, PTI quoted his doctors as saying.
He was suffering from liver cirrhosis and was critically ill. Reports said he suffered from multiple organ failure.
Agnivesh had been a vocal critic of the RSS, the Sangh Parivar and its ideology, and has come under frequent attacks from Hindu activists including a mob attack in Jharkhand in 2018. Several people, including lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan, posted tweets voicing their grief at his passing.
