Bulgarian Air Force fighter jet crashes
Sofia – A Bulgarian Air Force MiG-29 fighter jet crashed into the Black Sea after crashing during a training exercise. The jazz pilot is reported missing. Bulgaria’s Defense Ministry said on Wednesday.
According to the report, during the military exercise, the fighter jet went out of radar reach at around 12:45 pm local time. An immediate search operation was launched to find the missing pilot, which is still ongoing but nothing has been found so far about the pilot.
The cause of the crash is not yet known but the army has postponed the Shabla 2021 military exercise. The Bulgarian military’s two MiG-29 fighter jets also crashed in 1994 and 2012, respectively. Bulgaria had tried to remove MiG-29 fighter jets from its fleet after joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in 2004, but was unable to do so due to financial difficulties.
